Dear MCCN readers…it’s that time of year. The leaves are falling, the crispness of the air is growing more evident by the day, and it is pumpkin season at Valley View Farm in Hunt Valley, Maryland. Fall is in the air and so are the beautiful colors. If you love pumpkins and other winter gourds, you will love a visit to this garden center and nursery.
In October, Valley View Farm is all decked out with pumpkin but make no mistake the Christmas trees and wreaths are on the way. That’s why savoring the vibrant and burnt oranges, deep browns, mustard yellows, and fall reds is a fantastic feast for the eyes. And not only the eyes, take it home to roast the pumpkin seeds, make your squash soups, pumpkin loaves and pies. It’s the season for all of those rich, sweet and filling flavors.

Take a look at the pumpkin labeled B. Robinson 5! It’s in honor of Baltimore baseball great Brooks Robinson. Then wander over to Aunt Lisa the 1,378-pound pumpkin. If you can believe it, there’s going to be a seed counting contest. What’s your guess?
If you’re not able to make it, it’s okay, I’ve captured a few images. Hope you enjoy!
