Manna Restaurant at the Museum of the Bible

In the Bible, there is a word called “manna,” which was the bread-like food that fell from heaven to feed the Jews as they traveled to the promised land. That’s what makes It such an appropriate name for a restaurant located in the Museum of the Bible.

Manna Restaurant is a relaxing place to sit and enjoy a meal of classic or nontraditional offerings at the Museum of the Bible. It’s an awesome museum, which spans six floors so when it’s time for a break, it’s definitely a good place to park for a moment. The restaurant is located on the sixth floor. You can sit inside the restaurant in a rustic, yet modern dining area or eat outside in the space just outside the restaurant called the Bible Garden.

Even if you don’t eat outside, it’s worth seeing the beautiful urban garden space complete with a waterfall. There are plenty of tables for fellowshipping with family, friends, and the faithful.

The menu includes classics like hamburgers, wrap sandwiches, and chicken and waffles. On the nontraditional side of things, you’ll find a Middle Eastern and Mediterranean themed menu with items like falafel, hummus and flatbread, lamb meatballs, tahini grits and more.

I had the soup of the day, which was a roasted pork and apple lentil stew served with toasted bread. I was very pleased with my choice. It was a hearty stew; the pork was tender and the apple gave a fantastic texture.

I also ordered a basket of fries, which was a good size for the price.

The Manna Restaurant is a little pricey, but no more than you would expect to pay when you are going to a restaurant in a museum. I’d definitely go to the Museum of the Bible again. As a Christian, it’s just an incredible experience seeing the history and documentation going back hundreds and thousands of years to support my belief in the word of God from the Old Testament to the New Testament.

Fun fact: History buff foodies will find plenty of information and exhibits about what people ate in Biblical times.

I look forward to coming back to experience more of the museum. I would also be delighted to come back for more savory selections from the Manna Restaurant. It’s definitely worth the trip.
