After seeing TikTok after TikTok and multiple Reels featuring food that looks more than amazing, I finally had my chance to visit Konoko Jamaican Restaurant in White Marsh, Maryland. The restaurant’s name is based on Konoko Falls in Jamaica at Shaw Park Estate, which is about five minutes from Ocho Rios.
Chef Jazz is not only the resident chef, but he is also the owner of the restaurant located at the Avenue in White Marsh. In an interview on the restaurant’s website, he talks about wanting people to feel the love when they enter.
We were greeted by our waiter, who informed us that we were traveling on Air Jamaica. He was even dressed as a flight attendant…adorbs. And good on him, he kept up the persona throughout our visit.
You can’t help but let your eyes wander as you see the lovely, luscious greenery draping the from large dark wood frames resembling shadow boxes. It’s tropical, for sure, so when you get to your table, you are ready for full immersion.

The menu is immense, and there doesn’t seem to be a wrong choice. The seafood pasta seems to be a very popular choice, and worthy of consideration. After all, Chef Jazz seems to be interested in giving you a tour of the ocean with this seafood pasta dish which includes lobster, shrimp, lump crab meat, scallops, and veggies sautéed in a cream sauce that’s a mix of Italy meets Jamaica.
As for me, I knew the only choice I could possibly make was having the oxtails. Those TikTok influencers did their job. I was completely influenced by the videos I saw.
The menu describes the oxtails as braised-bone-in beef simmered in Konokos’ famous brown gravy. I knew it would be so tender, flavorful, and fall-off-the-bone good.
I wasn’t wrong.

Yardie bird, jerk chicken, red snapper, curry goat, shrimp and chicken are all on the menu. There are also some appetizers like pineapple fried wings, mango fried wings, salmon bites, and coconut shrimp. If you are a Jamaican food fan, you are probably salivating by now.
Try their Sunday brunch for even more options like Jerk Lamb N’ Waffles. I tried to order a brunch option on a Saturday. They held strong though. I really wanted to try the three little birds. Now, I don’t drink alcohol, but I was determined someone could make it a mocktail for me. It’s beautiful, picturesque, and worth fighting for a non-alcoholic version.
Are you hearing me Konoko?
I did get a wonderful mocktail, and I can’t imagine I was missing out on too much more. Look at those colors! Oh, my goodness, what a fruity fabulous fun time. I don’t remember the name of the drink. However, if you are interested, something tells me if you show them the picture below, the good flight crew at Konoko will figure it out.
