Girl, oh girl, do I love a good tea experience. When I got the invitation from my cousin, I was ready. Usually, I host tea parties. but this time it was nice to be invited to a mobile tea experience called Tea Around Town. It is a unique experience that combines the elegance of afternoon tea with the excitement of a city tour.
In Washington, D.C., this charming bus ride offers locals and tourists alike a delightful way to explore the city. Onboard, guests can savor exquisite teas and delectable treats. Tea Around Town offers a quaint ambiance. Its scenic routes give a refreshing perspective on the capital’s iconic landmarks. The tour highlights the city’s rich history.
The bus itself is a lovely paradise of pink, giving all the feels for girly-girls. I loved the lace, the flowers, and the beautiful bites presented in the tiered servers. Our ride even had a soul soothing singer/emcee. This young lady flowed back and forth between her vintage song and her tour talking points with admirable ease.
LuXE Experience
The eating was good, and I mean really good. And the price tag does justify good eating. When you choose the luxe experience, Tea Around Town gives you a taste of the high life. Options include a lobster roll, plus caviar served on crème fraîche. For a luxe level dessert, they offer an exquisite Ferrero Velvet Delight. It combines red velvet cake, Nutella Mousse, hazelnut crumbles, and Ferrero Rocher. There are also other treats.
One of the beverage highlights was the Refresh Rosé. I was all set to turn it down when I was told it was non-alcoholic. It’s just a crisp refreshing taste and something I can add to my non-alcoholic request list.
Standard Menu
The luxe experience is very nice, but don’t you worry, there’s still good eating in more modest territory. Among other standouts, I had the Earthly Elegance Crostini. It features herbed mushrooms on lemon ricotta with balsamic glaze. It is served on a toasted baguette. There’s a creamy chicken salad. There are freshly baked scones, and you can also enjoy a white chocolate floral cake pop. Lastly, there’s a mini lemon meringue with fresh Chantilly cream.
As for the tea, offerings include delightful options like Cherry Hibiscus, Raspberry Pomegranate, Mint Green, and Earl Grey. What I did find a little lackluster was drinking the tea from the Tea Around Town tumbler.
Don’t get me wrong, the tumbler is a very pretty, well-branded cup. I’m simply speaking from the aspect of loving the refined beauty of a tea setting. But the fact is, it is a practical decision for Tea Around Town. You can’t make your rounds, around town, with piping hot tea in beautiful china that’s all loosey-goosey.
It’s just not safe or feasible so the tumbler fits in a cupholder on the table.
Now here’s a bright spot…you do get to go home with the tumbler so it’s a win. My tumbler has proven to be one of my favorite cups to sip and run.

Tea Around Town is certainly a wonderful experience to share with someone special. It’s a marvelous way to have a completely unique adventure with a friend while taking a tour. And here’s the thing, I’m pretty familiar with Washington, D.C., but I still get wow-ed by the history, the beauty, and the general vibe. It’s also just plain fun because you can make your experience what you want it to be. Dress up in your teatime best. Or dress down and just have a casual proper good time.
